About Bellingen Farmstay and The Property

Canoe on the Kalang RiverBeautiful Bellingen Farmstay

Beautiful Bellingen Farmstay is a unique property just 15 minutes drive from the creative town of Bellingen. It’s unique because of its special location. Bellingen Farmstay is situated on the Kalang River so you have instant access to the river to swim, fish and boat, and yet it is only a 15 minute drive to the fabulous beaches of Hungry Head, Wenonah and the child-safe beaches of Urunga, Mylestom and Boambee. Or, if you don’t like ocean swimming, you can visit numerous deep, shaded, secluded swimming holes located in the Bellinger and adjacent valleys.

Drive to World Heritage Rainforest

Bellingen Farmstay is situated adjacent to the Newry State Forest and a scenic 45 minute drive from the World Heritage listed rainforest of the Dorrigo National Park. There are seven National Parks within easy reach of Bellingen. There are fabulous walks and or bikerides from our front door.

Bellingen FarmstayExplore The Farm

However, you don’t have to go anywhere because everything you need is on the property. Children love the wide open spaces to explore and roam. Throw in a crabpot and you can net a mudcrab for dinner. Bring your boat, canoe or kayak and you can explore the river.  And there’s lots more…

Bellingen Family Friendly Accommodation

We specialise in extended family and friend get togethers, book all three cabins. We have hosted birthdays, weddings, reunions and workshops – having the farm to yourself is very special.

History of Bellingen Farmstay

Beautiful Bellingen Farmstay started life as a large dairy farm – it was subsequently sub-divided and the Farmstay was borne. Bellingen Farmstay - Explore the PropertyThe original owners, who were here for twenty years, planted many varieties of trees – fruit producing and native. Today we enjoy the beautiful towering stands of gums located around the dam, creek and river. Many more are self-seeding and the property is revegetating beautifully, naturally, of its own accord. Brett and Fiona are still keen to plant out more and are experimenting with cabinet timbers, such as Hoop Pine and White Mahogany.

Time for a Tree Change

When Brett and Fiona undertook their “tree-change” which saw them leave the big smoke of Sydney and relocate to Bellingen in 2003 they decided to convert the property to organic. For you, as guests, the added benefit to you is that you are not exposing yourselves to any chemicals during your visit and best of all the taste, nutrition, health and energy of the property to those who reside and stay is palpable.

Healthy Organic Living

Bellingen Farmstay pastureBrett and Fiona had been consuming organic food since before they had their two children and with Fiona’s knowledge of nutrition, due to her Diploma of Remedial Therapies, they felt this was definitely the way to go. Whilst organic farming is not the easiest method of farming and many hours are spent manually removing weeds, their conviction is strong to retain the property’s natural integrity. The property has creeks, wetlands, dam and a river frontage, we are mindful of what happens down stream. Because the natural balance is returning to the farm, the property is teeming with life – birds and frogs abound.

Brett and Fiona have many dreams for the property and it just keeps getting more special. Come and visit, plant a tree or just “feel the energy” that is abundant in this space.
